In a significant operation, the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) has arrested a community head and a National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) member in Osun State, Nigeria, for alleged drug trafficking offenses. The head of Akarabata community in Ile-Ife, Ba’ale Ige Babatunde, was apprehended with 5kg of fresh cannabis plants. Similarly, a corps member, Yusuf Abdulrahman, was caught with 1.250kg of Loud, a potent strain of cannabis, at a Corpers Lodge in Sumaila area. These arrests are part of a broader crackdown by the NDLEA, which also included dismantling a cocaine syndicate in Lagos, leading to the recovery of drugs worth over ₦2.1 billion.
