The Nigerian House of Representatives has initiated an investigation into lawmaker Alex Mascot Ikwechegh following accusations of assaulting a Bolt driver, Stephen Abuwatseya. The incident reportedly occurred at Ikwechegh's residence in Abuja. In response, Ikwechegh has issued a public apology, but the House has referred the matter to its Ethics and Privileges Committee for further examination. The investigation was prompted by a motion from the Majority Leader, Rep. Julius Ihonvbere, during a plenary session.

Honestly, this is just another example of the system wasting time on trivial matters. Sometimes people in power need to assert their authority to maintain respect and order. Politicians have a tough job, and it’s ridiculous to expect them to be perfect all the time. The guy apologized—let's move on. We should be focusing on bigger issues that actually affect the country.

It’s about time people in power are held accountable for their actions, especially when they abuse everyday workers. Let’s hope this investigation actually leads to real consequences and not just a slap on the wrist.
This is a perfect example of why politicians shouldn’t be above the law. It’s ridiculous that this even needs an investigation when there’s a clear victim and the guy has already apologized. If this were a regular citizen, they'd already be facing the consequences. Power shouldn't grant you immunity or special treatment. Let the free market decide how Bolt and the driver want to handle it, rather than wasting taxpayers' money on this committee nonsense.
